As their name suggests, these are songs which go round — and round — and round. The simplest of them all is 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat', and these are the words: Row, row, row your boat Gently down the stream: Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream. To sing this in a round, one passenger starts off by himself. When he reaches the second line, another passenger starts off at the first. When this second person reaches the second line, another passenger begins. All the while, the original singer will have been ploughing on. When he gets to the last line, he starts again. And so on, until you all run out of breath! Any other song with short verses — such as 'London Bridge is Falling Down' or 'Scarborough Fair' or 'Morning Has Broken' — can be used for round-singing. And if you are really clever, you may find two or even three songs which can be sung simultaneously as rounds. Back to Singing Travel Games Menu
