One player is appointed to be the reader. He finds a newspaper, magazine or book, opens it at random and begins to read out loud. The other players have to spot words which contain the letter (but not the sound) I in them. When someone hears a word containing an I, he shouts out 'Aye, Aye!'. Obviously he must get his shout in quickly, before the others spot it. The reader stops and checks that the word really does contain the letter in question. If it does, then the player who shouted first scores one point. If it doesn't, then that player loses two points. The person with the highest score after ten minutes' play is the winner. I's are sometimes well disguised in a word. Would you spot them, for instance, in 'faint', or 'bier', or 'ointment'? Back to Word Travel Games Menu
